Biography:

Dianne Georgy was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana where she still resides. Her love of art began at a very young age, and continued throughout all of her endeavors in life. She attended Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans for high school, and studied art for four years and attended private art lessons which helped develop her skills as an artist. Her realistic style of painting was always her passion, and also the use of vibrant color.

Dianne went on to attend Louisiana State University where she majored in Interior Design and minored in Art. This curriculum entailed many hours of study in Architecture and Design, and drafting became her newest art form. While attending LSU, she was introduced to many styles of art, but her realistic approach to art always showed through.

After working in Interior Design for a short while, she was introduced to another artistic field which was in the salon business. She studied under John Jay, who was an internationally renowned hair stylist and President of Intercoiffure. Dianne excelled quickly in this business and became a master stylist and colorist due mostly to her background in the arts. This has been her career since 1982. After many years in the salon business, her desire to paint again became overwhelming.

Dianne started learning about faux finishing techniques, and decided to take classes in this field. She practiced and did a lot of testing on boards to perfect her techniques. She started a faux finish and mural business in 2001 while still keeping her salon business part time. Some of her jobs were as large as two story foyers, and she also painted numerous murals on ceilings and walls in homes all around the New Orleans area.

She continued both businesses until 2015 which satisfied her passion for the arts. That same year at the age of 59, there was a call to artists in Kenner, Louisiana where she now resides, to form an arts council in Rivertown which is one of thirty-six Main Streets USA in the entire State of Louisiana. Dianne was then appointed by the Mayor of Kenner with six other Members which was a huge honor. After meetings and discussing projects with the other members, she then decided to go back to her true passion...painting with acrylics on canvas using vibrant colors and showing the true beauty of nature. Having this opportunity to spend time with other artists of different media and backgrounds, gave her the desire to go back to her artistic roots. The Rivertown Arts Council created the RAAD (Rivertown Art After Dark) which takes place certain times of the year in the Rivertown Community Courtyard. Also, the Council has done beautification projects such as the Butterfly Gardens at LaSalle's Landing on the Mississippi River. In 2017-2018, Rivertown was also a Satellite venue for Prospect 4 which took place throughout the entire City of New Orleans, and all of the Council Members were participants.

In 2017, Dianne's 4ft.x 8ft. mural "The Awakening" was selected for the St. Tammany Art Association's 52nd Annual National Juried Artists Exhibition, better known as the Summer Show. This was a fabulous opportunity and honor for Dianne especially since she had just recently started painting again. Meeting all of the other artists and the exposure alone was amazing for her.

Dianne continues to paint vibrant, visually beautiful large scaled flowers and other subjects in nature.

Dianne entered an on-line art competition for Light, Space and Time Gallery in 2018, and she received a 7th place award out of 742 entries in The Nature Exhibition which was another honor for her.

Since reengaging in her art, Dianne has kept a small and very loyal clientele in her salon business. They are also huge supporters of her continuing in her art journey.
